Wild limited edition linoprint

A handcarved limited edition lino print printed in black oil based ink on 280gsm Fabriano Rosapina archival paper. This print is from an edition of 20.

I was inspired by the symbolism of the hand and its various meanings in many cultures and societies, and in particular the hand of Philosophies/Mysteries. I'm also interested in the hand symbol as being part of a folklore tradition, being from a time where we spent more time working with or being surrounded by nature itself.

The plant forms are wild garlic that grow in abundance on the coastal paths of Cornwall, an area I frequently visit. I wanted to use this wild plant, as it seems to herald the start of Spring. These twisting forms grow around the hand, re-connecting us with all that is wild and beautiful.

This image was drawn directly onto the lino, with the white areas being carved away. Each print is signed, dated and numbered and arrives in a secure hard-backed envelope.
