Made for the 'Linocut Coven' project, the image alludes to the story of Lilith, regarded as the first witch. She gained independence from Adam in The Garden of Eden and appears in cultural myths as a powerful figure. Lilith is sometimes referred to as the first feminist. The print also references symbols associated with the occult and magic such as the hand of mysteries, the hamsa or third eye, and celestial stars/moon. Herbs and flowers associated with folklore and witchcraft medicines/potions appear around the hand: belladonna, hemlock, moonflowers, henbane, elder berries, and hawthorn.
