A very rare original linoprint, created for the cover of Maggie O' Farrell's best selling book 'Hamnet'. Printed in rich black ink on Fabriano Rosaspina paper.
I have never put this print up for sale, so the very few that I have are Artist's Proofs, which the artist usually holds onto. The print is also rare because the authour now owns the block, so I can't pull more prints from it. These prints were made for the book publisher, to test out the block before scanning to create the cover in gold foiling and red.
The brief was to try to condense the sense of nature in the book, wrapped around the symbolic 'H' for Hamnet her son, and the part nature played in Agnes' life, and the story.
I loved making this print, hand carved from lino and printed on my home press.
