Titled 'Cara M’anama’ from Gaelic which translates literally from Irish to mean ‘friend of my soul’.
I was comissioned to create a design based on the theme of 'Friendship' for the charity Rethink Mental Health. This design appears on a T-Shirt for Mental Health Awareness Week 2021.
Taking inspiration from the Irish Claddagh symbol of love and friendship, the design celebrates the enduring love of a friend. Swallows often appear in art to symbolise friendship and loyalty; they sit as a pair on top of the heart, protecting and guarding. Pear blossom is associated with friendship in the language of flowers, and Ivy has traditionally been seen as a symbol of friendship. Both the blossom and Ivy entwine the heart and hands, symbolising the valued support of a friend.
Printed on 280gsm Fabriano Rosaspins 280gsm paper in oil based black ink.
Dimensions: approx 25.8 x 29.6 cms
Each print is signed, numbered and dated, and sent in a secure cardboard package.
