An original hand-drawn and carved linocut print, part of an edition of 15. Made for the exhibition 'Fifty Bees: The Interconnectedness of all Things', where fifty artists were asked to respond to a given bee. My bee was Bombus Distinguenus - The Great Yellow Bumblebee.

Once found throughout the UK, this bumblebee it is now only found on the north coast of Scotland, and some of the Scottish Islands. These coastal areas are rich in Machair, a habitat consisting of some of the most varied forms of wildflower growth in the British Isles.

The title ‘Callieach Bheara’ alludes to the Scottish Folklore goddess, creator and destroyer. I wanted to symbolize our responsibility in the destruction and recovery of the Great Yellow Bumblebee’s natural habitat. I’ve included just some of the wildflowers found in Machair: Milk Thistle, Common Thistle, Spear Thistle, Catsear, Harebell, and Phacelia.

Paper size: 30 x 30 cm, Printed image size: 20 x 20 cm.

Each print is signed, numbered and dated, and sent in a secure cardboard package.
